Babies can only be soothed by the 5s so I don’t think they can get addicted so when they’re fussy and they start to get really inconsolable they can get really upset so I highly recommend this method

New research has found that it’s a misconception that the brain bounces off of the skull. Research shows that the trauma in the brain occurs by overly stretching tissue causing damage and inflammation.

So, according to this new research, there's no need to worry about shaken baby syndrome? Is it overrated? I have 3 children. And they're all colicky, gassy babies. It is impossible to put him to sleep without rocking him. Sometimes I rock it in the cradle, sometimes with a pillow on my feet. The swinging speed is often high. Otherwise, it is difficult for them to fall asleep. For a working person, 1-2 hours of sleep at night is enough to go crazy...

Okay, seriously, where was her mother in all this? This story still bothers me to this day for more reasons than one. Because not only did it show the frustratingly incompetent side of school staff, but also because the police went along with it just cause.

Even if the girl was throwing a tantrum the police didn't have a right to arrest the child.

I got happiest toddler on the block DVD at my local library and I tried the fast food method today in the car and it worked! It has taken some practice. I love that it’s just repeating what the child is saying, so that they know they are heard and maybe even that you do empathize. But repeat just to know you’re heard, it’s something we can do as adults too.

This incident took place in April of 2005. It was one of the first high profile cases of police getting involved in school discipline and policy issues and ultimately arresting a student. The school-to-prison-pipeline has become far more prevalent and extensive since then.

@Djevan41598 : Yes because this was all over the news during that time and was played over and over for weeks and up to a month or so. I was 7-8 years old then and I was absolutely terrified of that back then and I was a very small child back then, smaller than most 7-8 year olds then.

My "Beautiful" daughter is starting to display some of these disorders, but I would "Neverrrr" (on or off TV), say that "SHE WAS A MISTAKE". All that we as their "Loving" Parents are supposed to do is....GIVE THEM ALL OF THE "LOVE" AND "SUPPORT", THAT WE CAN GIVE TO THEM. WHY BECAUSE "GOD" SAID SO!

The thing is Dr. Harvey Karp (who designed this) recommends the baby sleep in the same room as parents for at least 6 months which is the shelf life of the SNOO. So if the baby cries, SNOO or not; parents are going to lose sleep. How do we get around that ? Wear ear plugs and sleep?

Find a way to pacify a child. Best way to calm down a child is to offer the child a toy, or something they can play with. *I would like to suggest some kind of treat like candy or a soft drink, but this method is a little too iffy. The child could have allergies or choke on candy.* Another method, school staff & police can literally sit on the floor at the child's level to show comfort and support. In fact pretend it's hard to get on the floor and ask the child if she/he would help you get on the floor. This shows the child that they can be a benefit to someone. Doing this & sitting at the child's level shows equalization.

I can see how the “guarantee” of the baby not turning over on its stomach could be a comfort for the parents but what about the baby’s comfort?!? Can’t move it’s arms. Can’t understand what’s happening. Perhaps, this is best for a baby under 6 weeks old. They are naturally dizzy and blind and and can’t distinguish who or what is holding them. But after a month, at least my little ones, were observant and knew what was remotely happening, I couldn’t have gotten away with putting them in this, that time is precious, the crying and bonding...I guess I’ll never know what it’s like to be rich and need one of these, so I can lead my busy life, ignoring my child, only until I leave them my fortune in my will.

Doctors are the dumbest people on earth! This guy read somewhere that shaken baby syndrome only occurs one way. How would medical professionals know that? It's not like people shake their babies in front of witnesses. Always support your baby's head, but even if you do don't bounce, jostle, swing, rock them while frustrated/stressed/sleep deprived. Adults in nursing homes get shaken baby syndrome from abusive caregivers, and it isn't because they're head are too big for their baby-necks, it's because force is force and brains are brains. Don't shake your babies people!!! A lot of people compare shaking to dropping and that's wrong! A fall is like a car going 25mph and rear-ending a stopped car in front of it, 25mph impact and injuries. If you accelerate a babies little, mostly water, brain, even in a short movement, you can get it going faster than falling, then you immediately accelerate it back the other way, well, that's a head-on collision for the little water-brain; 25mph + 25mph = 50mph injuries. Babies are surprisingly resilient to falls, and surprisingly vulnerable to shaking. Don't jerk, jiggle, or whatever your baby, forcefully. Always be gentle with your baby. Lastly, remember, it's a baby's job to cry and a parent's job to be patient! The baby might not be upset for any reason other than it's upset and doesn't know why. Even emotions are new to them as their brain grows. Be calm. Gentle. Etc.
